Richard J.Brzostek - 05/02/2007 Another good comedy directed by Olaf Lubaszenko, June 8, 2005
"Coyote's Morning" is a comedy about a comic book artist (Maciej Stuhr) who is not up to date on current events. He falls in love with a woman, who turns out to be a famous singer. Their love has some obstacles, including local gangsters that have their own ideas for the fate of the couple. The events get a bit crazy, but this makes it all the more funny.
Olaf Lubaszenko has come a long way since he played the "peeping Tom" in Kieslowski's "Decalogue." Now, he directs films in addition to acting in them. Lubaszenko's comedies have a good dose of crude and vulgar humor mixed in, and this film is no exception.
"Coyote's Morning" is not on the same level as his masterpiece, "Boy's Don't Cry," but nonetheless, it's quite funny and well worth seeing, if only for a refreshing break from the more serious and depressing Polish cinema of recent years. |
