Richard J.Brzostek - 05/02/2007 Dysfunctional people know one emotion well: Anger, July 26, 2004
Gniew (Anger) is a suspenseful film with many dysfunctional characters. Pawel fears for his safety after uncovering corruption at his workplace, so he takes his girlfriend, Magda, with him to his newly inherited mansion in a remote place surrounded by a forest. They soon find that Piotr, Pawel's brother, is there. The brothers do not get along at all and they constantly fight. Piotr is a wild and crazy type of guy with a criminal past, but deep down he is nice.
To complicate matters, a gang of thugs that are Piotr's friends come to the house. They bully and intimidate Magda and Pawel, and even turn on Piotr. Pawel's troubles never really seem to end.
Directed by Marcin Ziebinski, Gniew is spoken in Polish and has English subtitles. The 1997 film is 80 minutes in length. There may be a few familiar faces as Pawel is played by Artur Zmijewski (who played parts in In Desert and Wilderness and Demons of War), Magda is played by Renata Dancewicz (who played a part in Tato), and Piotr is played by Rafal Mackowiak (who also starred in Billboard and Louder than Bombs). |
